Here's a question for you.
Why is it in America that you can sue a place of business because you spilled hot coffee upon yourself?
How could you have not known it was going to be hot?
Where has common sense disappeared to? Why can't people put together the fact that when you order fresh coffee it's going to be hot? How is that so hard?
The world has changed greatly in the 22 years that i have been in it. In the past 20 years we've seen a lot of things shift. We've seen a pope die and a new one be elected. we've seen the naming of several new presidents each with their own pro's and con's. We've seen technology grow leaps and bounds. We've watched the rise and fall of powerful industries. Sadly we have yet to see people learn their lesson.
You'd think that America was free, but anymore our freedoms are taken from us more and more every day. Even at this very moment they are trying to pass a Healthcare bill that will make it illegal to not have medical insurance but they want to take away medicaid from those who can't afford actual medical insurance. If this bill would pass it would cost a poverty ridden family over $700.00 if they would get caught without insurance. As in say my son got very sick and he had to go to the doctor we'd have to pay $700.00 just for them to tell us he has a cold then who know's how much more for them to possibly perscribe a medication. That's sad. This is supposed to be the Land of the Free. This is supposed to be a place where we accept everyone's Weak and Weary. Lady Liberty has basically been told to put her torch down. How can America consider itself the World Police when it can't even police itself? Where does the government get off sending billions of dollars a year to Africa to aid in the Aids pandemic when there are millions of Americans that have AID's themselves? Do we really think we're helping other countries when they are looking at us trying to figure out why we are ignoring our own people. There are millions in the USA who are homeless and jobless but we're busy working in iraq to rebuild their homes and give them jobs? Whatever happened to "A chicken in every pot, and a car in ever garage" - President Herbert Hoover. Now we're struggling to even compete with foreign car makers and those jobs are going out the window as well. And the government wants to tell us we're coming out of the recession? really? how the bloody hell do they plan on proving that? Instead of getting funding to build new businesses they're giving us funding to fix the roads? How is that supposed to help the average american? Why is it that now you have to have a college education in order to even have a decent job anymore? I'm sorry but not everyone can afford to go to college. Why should they be stuck working at McDonalds for the rest of their lives? Anymore in America the only way to survive is to be rich. It's very true when they say the rich get richer and the rest just have to deal with it. It's sad when other countries have to open their doors to Americans just so they can have jobs. It's sad when our boys come back from the "war" that they can't even get a job. It's sad that our own government is so concerned about helping everyone else that they've forgotten about their own people... I hear people say God bless America all the time.. My response to that is we don't deserve it. What have we done to really earn a blessing from God? The bible even speaks on this issue. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Mathew 7:3. I'm not one to normally quote the Bible but it does have bearing here.
I've not had a job in over a year. I've had to have 2 surgeries in the last 9 months to fix my shoulders. sadly all i hear is "deal with the pain and get a job" I'm like i'm sorry but if i do that i'll just have to have surgery all over again. I feel worthless sometimes because now my family has nothing. I can't support my boys or my wife. Half the time that makes me feel like less of a man. Then i have to look to my own advice. There's nothing i can do about the fact that i needed to have surgery. at least now that it's done i'll be able to handle a job when i'm fully healed up. Sadly we don't have that kind of time. one of the main things i'm sooo tired of hearing is "it will all work out in time" i'm sorry but right now time is something i have very little of. I've over $4,000.00 behind on rent and somehow we've still got a roof over our heads. A blessing in disguise? maybe. who knows. The sad thing is the only way to get any cash assistance is if i'd do more work. problem here: I can't work at the moment. That's one thing that angers me. i see alot of people that don't deserve half the help that they get. i know alot of people that cheat the system so that they can get things they haven't done anything to get.. but when the people that actually do need it try to get the assistance they have to jump through so much red tape that they'll be stuck in limbo for over 5 years until they are finally told that they can't be helped. What the hell is that about. Sadly we are in Iraq trying to teach them about Diplomacy when we know nothing about it ourselves. It really saddens me. It's truely like the blind leading the blind. That never works out. Don't get me wrong i will always support our troops. They give their lives for our "freedom" every day. What i don't support is the fact that they are dieing needlessly. Their are many battle fronts here on American soil. why are we worrying about issues that have nothing to do with us..
Instead of handing money out to help the people in Africa we could be doing more research here to try and help our own people who are fighting the overpowering disease of AID's.
Instead of taking money away from schools that don't test well we could be giving them more money so they can buy new books and pay for more teachers.
Instead of telling teenagers to obstain from sex we could realize that we're not going to stop them and start trying to help them.
Instead of telling teenage mothers that they screwed up and they will never live a real life, we could be helping them and giving them the resources they need to make it.
Instead of trying to compete with the foreign car makers, why don't we work with them to come up with a better way of travel.
Instead of fighting over oil prices and throwing money away on pointless negotiations, why not put more funding into finding other sources of fuel.
Instead of worrying about the hungry children in third world countries, why don't we worry about the starving children right in front of us.
Instead of taking special programs aimed at the poverty ridden away, why can't we use the money being spent on those things to help fund the building of new businesses so that new jobs can be made.
Instead of cutting funding to schools in general taking away their extra curricular activities, why not give them funding.
Instead of spending trillions of dollars a day on a war that is already over, why not bring the troops home to their families and stop this needless shedding of blood.
Instead of telling parents that their children have mental problems, why don't we dig deeper to the root of the problem so the kid isn't put on needless drugs.
I could go on forever. But alas it is late. Don't be surprised if I add more to this at a later date. I was talking to a friend on MSN before writing this trying to figure out what i wanted to write about and she told me to write about something i'm passionate about. Oddly enough this topic is something i'm very passionate about. I'm so tired of seeing people just live their lives and not Question why things are happening.. I'm so tired of people just turning a blind eye to something that obviously has something to do with them. I'm so tired of the American Population deciding to just ignore the fact that the government that was set up to represent them has forgotten them.. People wake up and see for once. See what is happening. And stand up for yourselves. Many people believe that one person can not make a difference. That is when i tell them to look at Rosa Parks. One African American woman who refused to relinquish her seat on the bus to a white man, inspired an entire nation to rise up and fight for what they believed in... I tell them to look at Abraham Lincoln.. The president that decided that enough was enough and said that the slaves were free. There's many more examples but i'm sure you get the point.
Thank you for reading this.
